Forza Horizon 5 is a racing video game set in an open world environment based in a fictional representation of Mexico. The game has the largest map in the entire Forza Horizon series, being 50% larger than its predeccesor, Forza Horizon 4 while also having the highest point in the Horizon series. The map was described by creative director Mike Brown as one of the most diverse Forza Horizon maps the team has built. The map contains an active caldera volcano, jungles and beaches, ancient Mayan temples, and towns and cities such as Guanajuato.
Players can explore the open world freely, though they can also compete in multiplayer races and complete the campaign mode. Both the cars featured in the game and the player character can be extensively customised. Players are able to create custom liveries and tunes for cars, and perform engine swaps, drivetrain swaps, or install body kits on certain vehicles.
The game is the first in the franchise to support ray tracing on cars . In order to replicate the Xbox Series X quality graphics mode on PC, gamers should at least have an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super. But in order to enjoy the PC's biggest advantage, higher frame rates, a more powerful gaming PC is required. With reduced settings equivalent to the Xbox Series X performance mode, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super was not entirely able to hold a steady 60 fps at 4k resolution. PC gamers who would like to play Forza Horizon 5 on these settings should have at least anRTX 2080.
Additional technical details, including further explanations of the hardware requirements and recommended settings of Forza Horizon 5 on PC are included in the video embedded below. Forza Horizon 5 will be released on November 9, 2021, but there is a way to play the game 4 days before its global release. To do that, players need to have brought the Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition, which will give them the right to take part in the game's early access phase, scheduled to start in 2 days, on November 5th.
Forza Horizon 5 is a Play Anywhere title, so if you buy it on PC via the Xbox app, you also play it on Xbox with no additional cost. Microsoft's unified video game platform means that the racer features crossplay between PC and console. A Steam version is available for people who prefer to leverage Valve's game store and launcher.
In a nice touch, Forza Horizon 5 features many accessibility options. With 4.5+ million players so far across PC, cloud & console, Forza Horizon 5 shows that promise coming to life. This game is set to feature the largest map yet in the Forza Horizon series. On top of this, the developer promises a new Expedition mode and a new feature called Events Lab.
This feature allows players to create their own game modes, experiences, and races. Unfortunately for PlayStation players, it seems unlikely this series will ever get across consoles. Forza Horizon 5is out now on Xbox Series X, Series S, Xbox One, and PC. The brand-new racing game is getting rave reviews, which, naturally, has players on other platforms wanting to get involved.
But, is there a Forza Horizon 5 PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and OLED model release date coming up? Here's the lowdown on Playground Games' FH5 launching on additional console platforms in the future. This consists of a series of mini-multiplayer games strewn across the map.
One of these mini-multiplayer games is called "Piñata pop" where the Horizon Festival's cargo plane drops piñatas. The goal is to pop as many piñatas as they can with the help of other players. It also introduces the "EventLab", a toolset in which players can create custom games, races, and more depending on their personal preference. According to Brown, it is an AI assistant that tracks the current statuses of players, helping them to link with other players online and play together. Forza Link can also link players' GPS systems if they accept the invitation from another player.
However, Forza Horizon 5 is on another level on Xbox Series X and it's one of the few games where I prefer the 30fps quality mode to its 60fps equivalent. The increase in fidelity and the more graceful LOD transitions combined with the upgraded visuals elevate it significantly beyond performance mode. True, it's not 60fps but the motion blur is the best I've seen in bridging the gap.
What Console Will Forza Horizon 5 Be On Of course, it is possible to play this game at full frame-rate with Series X's mixture of high, ultra and extreme settings - and that's where the PC version comes into play. We'll be reporting back on our testing and experiences there soon. Here, "crossplay" means that, when playing, you can match with gamers who are on PCs or other Xbox systems. That greatly improves the pool of gamers to draw from, which makes it easier for races to fill up and get started. It also makes it easier to play with friends who may prefer to use their PC racing setups — and vice-versa for those who enjoy racing on a console in front of their TVs. To an extent, cross-saving is also supported, so some gamers are able to switch between PC and console without losing progress.
For the most part, Forza Horizon 5 does support cross-saves, meaning that you can continue your progress on other platforms, which is great if you've got multiple gaming set-ups. However, it's worth noting that players on Steam will not be able to use the cross-save feature, though they'll still experience the benefits of cross-play with other platforms. Xbox boss Phil Spencer revealed on Twitter that the racing game has already reached 4.5 million players across console, PC, and the cloud. The gameplay trailer shows new features, including a new exploration-first campaign mode and an expanded arcade gameplay option that introduces new, Mario Kart-like mini games.
The footage also focuses in on the immense detail of the world, from uniquely-crafted rocks to a recreation of a real Mexican sky captured in 12k resolution. This new level of graphical intensity is a unique strength, made possible by a powerful new generation of consoles that released last year. Forza Horizon 5 is filled to the brim with content and interesting game modes to keep solo players engaged and playing for hours on end.
Nonetheless, being able to play with friends can elevate the racing game even further and offer a whole new experience. The Steam version of the game will have crossplay multiplayer with all other platforms, but it won't support cross-save. Your Steam save data is separate from save data connected to your Xbox gamertag.
Keep that in mind if you plan on switching between console and PC. One of the biggest appeals of Forza Horizon 5 is how it allows players to interact with each other throughout the game's expansive map. Forza Horizon 5 handles servers in a much more different way than its predecessor, a decision which developer Playground Games has likened to an MMO. It expands the number of active players at once and helps to ensure that exploration of its fictionalized Mexico won't be so lonely. With multiplayer being such a huge focus and crossplay becoming increasingly more common, you might be wondering if Forza Horizon 5 limits you to only playing with owners of the same system.
In one of several extensive videos featuring Forza Horizon 5, Digital Foundry concluded that the quality mode on Xbox Series X mostly matches the maxed out settings on PC. But at a native 4k resolution, the Xbox Series X only manages to output 30 fps with these settings. Therefore it looks like the PC settings in Forza Horizon 5 do not provide a lot of headroom when it comes to visual quality, also because raytracing is only active in photo mode and can't be activated for regular gameplay. Playground Games' Forza Horizon 5 is set to be released next week and racing fans could not be more excited about the arrival of the newest title of the acclaimed series. This racing game is the follow-up to the critically-acclaimed Forza Horizon 4, so Xbox fans are itching to get their hands on it.
With that being said, did you know that there's a way to play the game even before it is globally released? The racing game doesn't let you play with uncapped frame rates, but you can set the game to run at a locked 20, 30, or 60 frames per second. My gaming desktop, which includes a 3.2GHz Intel i CPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 2TB of storage, ran Forza Horizon 5 with ease. The sexy cars and lush environments moved at 60fps, though the game occasionally locked up for a few seconds at a time.
Please note that a 20GB patch followed the 100GB game download, so it may take a while before you can first boot Forza Horizon 5. Beginning with Forza Horizon 2, each sequel in the Playground Games-developed racing series used the previous title as a fun-filled foundation to build upon, and Forza Horizon 5 is no different. Longtime series fans will still sink hours into Forza Horizon 5, as its varied Mexico setting, ridiculously stuffed modes, and new features make it a game worth returning to on a regular basis. Newcomers, on the other hand, will be floored by the PC game's creative riches.
In short, Forza Horizon remains the best racing game series, and this Editors' Choice entry is yet another example of why it's so beloved. Yes, Forza Horizon 5 does support cross-play across Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC players, meaning you can group up in convoys or race against multiple players no matter which platform they happen to call home. Forza Horizon 5 also supports cloud gaming too, so those who are playing via mobile devices can also experience cross-play with all the regular platforms. Forza Horizon 5 has finally arrived, bringing with it the biggest and best map in an open-world racing game ever. With a ton of content crammed onto it, over 500 cars on the roster, and cutting-edge visuals, there's plenty to keep you drifting and danger sign jumping for hours on end.
As such, you may be wondering what the deal is with Forza Horizon 5 crossplay, so you know exactly what the deal is with your progression carrying over from one platform to another. Playground Games has delivered their latest masterpiece with Forza Horizon 5, which features the series' most diverse map and largest car list yet. Forza Horizon 5 somehow fulfills its ambitious promises to be the best open-world racer right now, and one of the best racing games in general.
Forza Horizon 5 is now available to millions of players all over the world, and has quickly established itself as one of the best racing games you can play. The colossal and expertly engineered open-world racing title from Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios is the latest in the Forza Horizon franchise, a series that has been a staple on Xbox consoles for years. With Forza Horizon 5 taking the series and the genre to all-new heights, however, some are wondering whether FH5 will ever come to PlayStation.
It's all about empowering players to race and explore in the way that is right for them. Long story short, it's amazing how well Forza performs on even the smallest and weakest of phones. Input lag is noticeable but it's minute and easily adjusted for, and the gameplay still looks incredible on a small screen thanks in part to its accessibility settings. On the flip side, even a high-speed internet plan might struggle to match the game's demands, and performance was bizarrely lackluster on my gaming PC.
For whatever reason, its cloud gaming port struggled more on PC and Mac than it did on phones. So, the million-dollar question as to whether Forza Horizon 5 supports crossplay? According to the Forza Horizon 5 FAQ page, the game indeed supports crossplay across Xbox consoles, PC and its cloud gaming ecosystem. Greenberg revealed this massive launch week number for Playground Studios' latest open-world driving game on Twitter and he said the numbers are still growing.
This news comes after Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed last week that Horizon 5 had the biggest launch of any Xbox Game Studios game ever, hitting over 4.5 million players on launch day. Forza Horizon 5 has crossplay between all platforms. This is no doubt good news for players with friends on different platforms as it makes joining up a breeze. Gone are the days of wringing your hands as you try to work out which of your friends are on what platform and who needs to switch or if someone needs to purchase a new system.
Players on console and PC can unite as they race around the beautiful Mexico landscapes. This makes finding the fast travel board locations even better as you can do it with friends. Yes, Forza Horizon 5 has crossplay between Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and players on PC, regardless of whether they're on Steam or the Microsoft Store. Not only is crossplay in the game but, according to the Forza Motorsport support page, Forza Horizon 5 features cross-save functionality for all Microsoft platforms. Unfortunately, Steam users will not be able to take advantage of this service. The only exception to this rule is for those PC players who are playing through Steam.
Steam players do not have cross-save support on their version of the game. Only Microsoft Store versions of the game will feature cross-save support with Xbox consoles. Ultimately, Playground has delivered an excellent game for all Xbox systems. The surprise package for me was Xbox One X - level of detail pop-in and longer loading are blemishes but perhaps it's only because these areas of the game are so dramatically improved on Series hardware.
Graphically, it's a treat, and the Scorpio Engine continues to surprise in its ability to service a 4K display. Judged on its own merits, it's a good version of the game and a worthy sequel. The fact that it retains Forza's signature 1080p 4x MSAA image quality and a consistent 30fps helps immensely in mitigating some of the more obvious cuts - it adds immensely to the overall polish. Quality mode looks excellent, performance mode is locked at 60fps and for those still gaming on 1080p displays, I can't foresee any complaints. The game wasn't even officially out yet, but that's how many people had decided to pre-order, or pick up the post-launch DLC bundle, in order to unlock early access.
Since launching for real yesterday, the game has seen over 4.5 million players get behind the wheel and kick up dust in its lovely Mexico landscapes. Forza Horizon 5 also supports crossplay between Xbox and PC so you can play with friends on different platforms. While Xbox players can join convoys normally, Steam players will have to use the Xbox Game Bar overlay on PC to accept and send invites. Forza Horizon 5 does indeed have crossplay and cross platform support. It also includes crossplay support for Xbox Cloud Gaming, meaning you can also race your friends even while on your phone or tablet. Additionally, Forza Horizon 5 includes cross-save, meaning your progress will carry throughout the Xbox ecosystem no matter the platform.
Detailed in the Forza Horizon 5 FAQ page, the developer has noted that the game includes cross-save support, irrespective of the platform they're playing on. There is one exception as players who have purchased their copy via Steam will not have access to the feature. Create your own expressions of fun with the powerful new EventLab gameplay toolset including custom races, challenges, stunts, and entirely new game modes. Customize your cars in more ways than ever before with new options such as the ability open and close convertible tops, paint brake calipers, and more. Use the new Gift Drops feature to share your custom creations with the community.
At a first glance, a Forza Horizon 4 PS4 release is clearly not going to happen anytime soon. This is because the game is made by Playground Games, who are owned by Microsoft, exclusively making games for the PC and Xbox platforms. However, there is a way PlayStation players may be able to play the game in the future. Unfortunately, it appears like there's no way to actually disable cross-play within Forza Horizon 5.
